The best part about a mezze plate (a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern party platter) is the sense of togetherness you feel when sharing it with friends and family. Don't get me wrong, the food is also the best part. But there's something so satisfying about sitting down with a person, tearing apart a pita bread, and sharing a plate.
I was really fortunate to spend some time working with a couple Lebanese guys for whom food was an ever present part of their culture and daily life. They shared everything. You'd be on break and they'd pull out containers of labneh, hummus, olive oil, preserves, meats, you name it. They'd have everyone eating. Everything was shared, and they always made you feel like family.
We wanted to bring some of that energy into this week's Love Box. So we put together a few of our favourite Middle Eastern dishes to bring you this delicious mezze plate.
Kofta Bites Ground beef gently tossed with the perfect blend of herbs and spices, rolled, and then baked in between tomatoes and roasted eggplant. They're so good we just couldn't keep the camera off them.
Roasted Beet & Labneh Dip Oven roasted beets, fresh herbs, and lemon blend perfectly with our homemade labneh to give you a bright and fresh dip with an unbelievable colour.
Jerusalem Artichoke & Roasted Cauliflower Hummus Oven roasted cauliflower and Jerusalem artichokes (sunchokes) take the place of chickpeas in this delicious twist on a classic. It might change your life, who knows.
House-Marinated Olives Your favourite olives are back!
Oven Roasted Lemon Garlic Potatoes
Mini Cucumbers Because every good mezze plate needs a little crunch.
Fresh Pita We'll be hitting up the bakery ourselves for the freshest pita we can get our hands on.
Pomegranate & Pistachio White Chocolate Tart We've taken our best white chocolate tart recipe and tweaked it to give it a Middle Eastern flair. I genuinely think it's our best dessert yet.
Our vegetarian alternative replaces the kofta balls with homemade falafel. Everything else is already vegetarian.
As usual, we can do a half-vegetarian, half-meat box so everyone gets fed. Just include a note with your preference at checkout.
Order cutoff is 3pm Wednesday, February 17th, with delivery Thursday, February 18th between 11am and 5pm. Never hesitate to ask us about any dietary restrictions you may have, we love to feed people and always do our best to accommodate.
